This slide shows how different enhancements have affected the performance behaviour:

• The curve labelled "MK6" represents the initial port of MK6 to the PA, so it includes collocation and short-circuit RPC
• The curve labelled "MK6 + dyn cache" has the dynamic file system cache, which improves i/o performance (this helps AIMIII results since temporary files are created)
• The curve labelled "MK6 + 2 disks" has the dynamic file system cache plus a second disk for swapping (this reduces disk overhead since FS access and swapping are parallelised)
• The curve labelled "MK6 + VM" has the above features plus the VM paging enhancements and task and thread swapping
